Swedish Business Awards 2016 in Latvia

 

On October 13, 2016 – 8th annual Swedish Business Awards 2016, organized by the Embassy of Sweden and Business Sweden took place at the recently re-opened Riga Motor Museum.

 

The event highlighted common values of Sweden and Latvia - sustainability, youth entrepreneurship, technology, innovation and gathered approximately 150 guests – managers of Swedish and Latvian companies, entrepreneurs, representatives of governmental institutions.

 

Swedish Business Awards 2016 was inaugurated by H.E. Raimonds Vejonis, President of the Republic of Latvia, Ambassador of Sweden Henrik Landerholm, Head of Business Sweden in Latvia Ansis Murnieks and Karin Olofsdotter, Director-General for Trade, Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Sweden who all acknowledged importance of close relations between Latvia and Sweden and suggested even broader cooperation on all levels, but especially sustainable entrepreneurship and technical innovations.

 

This year organisers received 61 applications in 3 categories. The Jury selected 10 finalists and Baltic Candles as the winner in Sustainable growth category, Ms. Linda Sinka and Ms. Elina Ingelande and their company Learn IT as the receiver of Young Entrepreneur Award and Mr. Reinis Adamsons from Damson as receiver of Technological Innovation Award for its RORBO heating system. The Jury decided to award also Rimi Latvia an Honorary Certificate of Recognition for its long-term achievements in the area of Sustainable Growth.

 

Finally, Stefan Hyttfors, Swedish futurologist delivered an inspiring speech about disruptive change, opportunities and risks it brings to businesses in all sectors in Sweden, Latvia, in fact any country in the world which provided excellent grounds for further discussions and networking.
