Members of the Swedish and the Norwegian Chambers of Commerce are kindly invited to a Business Lunch with Artis Pabriks and Roberts Zile, Members of the European Parliament.

Both speakers have extensive knowledge about the political processes and key topics both in Latvia and in Europe and has held several local Ministers Positions before being elected to the European Parliament.
They will address:

  • Update on the geo-political situation and eects for Latvian security and economy
  • Key priorities for Latvia and Europe in the coming period

About Dr. Artis Pabriks, Unity
Member of European People's Party (Christian Democrats) group in the European Parliament Dr. Artis Pabriks graduated from the University of Latvia, Faculty of History and continued his studies in the University of Aarhus, Denmark, receiving Ph.D. in political science in 1996. As an academician, his main elds of research activity are political theory, ethnic policy, multiculturalism, foreign and security policy and he is author and co-author of numerous publications on these topics. Pabriks has been Rector and Professor of Vidzeme University College and worked as a policy analyst and researcher in several NGOs. In 2004 Pabriks was elected as a Member of Saeima and later in the same year appointed as a Minister of Foreign Aairs serving until 2007. From 2007 until 2010 he was a Member of Saeima. From 2010 until 2014 Pabriks was a Minister of Defence. Member of the European Parliament since July 2014.

About Dr.oec. Roberts Zile, National Alliance
Latvian Delegation leader/Member of European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group in the European Parliament

Dr. Roberts Zile holds a PhD in Economics from the Latvian University of Agriculture. He has participated in numerous international research projects in Latvia, Australia, Canada and USA. Zile has previously served as Minister of Finance, Minister of Transportation and Minister for Special Assignment for co-operation with International Financial Agencies. He is an author of the economic reform program aimed at restructuring Latvia's economic system from excessive investments in real estate and banking sectors towards support of industries and small and middle businesses. Zile was elected to the European Parliament in 2004 and re-elected in 2009 and 2014. He is ECR Coordinator for the committee on Transport and Tourism and has been a driving force behind “Rail Baltica” and increased Baltic European cooperation on Transportation and Energy infrastructure. He is also a substitute in Committee on Economic and
Monetary Aairs (ECON).
