On 17 December 2019 the Latvian Cabinet on Ministers took a decision that Latvia is going to make a contribution of 230,000 euro to the Foundation for the Sweden-Latvia Cooperation Fund, thereby increasing the financing available in the Foundation for bilateral projects.
The Foundation of the Sweden-Latvia Cooperation Fund is a gift from the Government of Sweden to Latvia on its centenary with a contribution of 10 million Swedish Krona (approximately 1 million euros) granted to the Foundation by the Swedish Government.
The purpose of the Foundation is to further cooperation between Sweden and Latvia by promoting mutual contacts, the exchange of knowledge and information, the Latvian language in Sweden and the Swedish language in Latvia. Particular attention will be devoted to exchange programmes and cooperation for network-building between young people to promote understanding of the community in the neighbouring country, and to develop creativity, innovation and the formation of new enterprises.
The call for project applications is expected to be launched in early 2020.
