About Mr. Maris Mancinskis

Māris Mančinskis, CEO of Swedbank Latvia since 2009 and current Chairman of the Banking Association, is an experienced banking executive with a proven track record in change management, strategy development, corporate restructuring and finance. After the severe impact of the economic downturn, under the leadership of Mr. Mančinskis Swedbank Latvia has not only regained a strong balance sheet but also has returned among top 3 most reputable companies and sought-after employers in the country.

Mr. Mančinskis has MBA in Finance from Hofstra University and BSc in Economics from the University of Latvia. During his bachelor studies, he started his carrier as an economist at the Ministry of Finance. When joining Swedbank (formerly, Hansabank) in 1999 he started in the area of corporate finance and since then has been in different managerial positions across Swedbank Group, including corporate banking and operations in Russia.

Today Mr. Mančinskis is not just a representative of the largest foreign investor in Latvia but also an active opinion leader both in the banking community and among economic policy makers. Recently he has also taken an active role addressing long-term issues beyond finance like the quality of education and entrepreneurship.
