SAS opens new routes
SAS opens new routes to Hong Kong and Los Angeles, increases frequencies to New York and Chicago
On 10 September 2015 Scandinavian Airlines SAS opens a new route from Stockholm to Hong Kong, and on 14 March 2016 launches a new route from Stockholm to Los Angeles as well as increases the number of departures from Stockholm to New York and Chicago. SAS travellers from Riga will have good connections via Stockholm to both the USA and Asia destinations.
Stockholm - Hong Kong long haul route will depart five times a week and will offer good connections to and from Riga airport. SAS is the only airline that flies between Scandinavia and Hong Kong, one of the world’s busiest airports and an important hub for the region. Hong Kong is also the number one airport in the world for freight and SAS therefore anticipates big interest in freight shipments on the new route.
In 2016 SAS launches a number of new routes to the USA, among which is a new route from Stockholm to Los Angeles. Los Angeles will be a popular destination among travellers visiting Southern California or those flying to Hawaii. The first flight to Los Angeles will take off on 14 March 2016, the route will have daily departures, tickets are available for purchasing.
In 2016 SAS is also increasing the number of departures from Stockholm to New York and Chicago to seven a week.
“These new routes and increased frequency on our long haul routes to the USA and Asia demonstrates our incredibly strong service offer for our customers and intent to further strengthen it in the future”, pointed out Rūta Jucienė, SAS General Manager Baltic States and Russia.
In Latvia, Scandinavian Airlines SAS currently operates up to 18 weekly flights between Riga and Stockholm: three daily flights on weekdays and up to two departures a day on weekends.
