Discussion on Latvia's Tourism Development plan for 2021-2027

The current Tourism Development plan for Latvia expires this year, the Ministry of Economics, which oversees the tourism industry in Latvia, is in the process of drafting a new Latvia's Tourism Development plan for the next period of 7 years (2021-2027). Since this has been a very complicated year for all players in the tourism and hospitality sector and  the industry is fighting for survival, it is important not to lose the focus on the long-term outlook.

From 2016-2018, SCCL, NCCL and AmCham together formed a Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce Tourism Working Group with an aim to increase cooperation on Latvia's tourism development. In response to the request by our Joint working group members, we have asked Ilona Kalniņa, the person in charge of drafting the new policy document at the Ministry of Economics to explain to our members what does this plan entail and what is the overall long-term outlook towards the tourism industry in Latvia. Whereas, Inese ŠīravaHead of the Tourism Department at LIAA has agreed to give an update on the currently available government support mechanisms to the tourism industry to dampen negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting will take place on September 10 at 10:00 at the Ministry of Economics, Brīvības iela 55.

The meeting is open to members of SCCL, NCCL and AmCham, which operate in the field of tourism and hospitality. The participation shall be registered by e-mail to SCCL office : scc@scc.lv
